Legal Research Tips

If you're trying to access combined journals and law reviews on Westlaw, try the "LAWREV-PRO" database instead of the "JLR" database. (Thanks to instructor Brian Craig for the tip!)

If you don't have a Westlaw password this quarter, you can also find journal and law review articles in LexisNexis Academic database and Gale LegalTrac database.

Question of the Week

Q: How do I find "Don't Shoot the Cannons: Maintining The Appearance of Propriety Standard by Margaret McKeown"?

A: If you're searching for this article by title, you'll have a problem because there's a typo in the title. "Canons" is the correct spelling. One way you could have gotten around this is by searching for the author.

In any case, here's the full citation. That should help you find it. You can see by the citation that you need to search Gale's LegalTrac database.

McKeown, M. M. (Spring 2005). Don't shoot the Canons: maintaining the appearance of propriety standard. Journal of Appellate Practice and Process, 7, 1. p.45(14). Retrieved April 01, 2008, from LegalTrac via Gale database.
